Superhero Challenge - Disney Hero

Hello everyone :)
Todays post is another Superhero challenge post! This time it's all about a Disney Hero! This turned out harder to choose than the other posts I've done as their are so many hero's I wanted to do! However, I can't draw very well especially on nails so I wanted something cute but quite simple too, here's who I settled on...

Marie from Aristocats! She's super cute and pink and everything I love about Disney! I know she's not typically a hero but she is classed as one by Disney, and I really wanted to include an animal :P It was a tie between Marie and Pocahontas, however Pocahontas is very difficult to do much with so I chose Marie :) here's what I did...
I decided that I would use different parts of Marie on each nail to reflect her and her personality. On my forefinger, I focused on the bow in her hair. For my middle finger I did the bow she wears a round her neck. I left my ring finger blank as Marie is very into pink and I wanted this to come across. On my little finger I used Marie's tail, it s so fluffy!! :)
For these nails I used two coats of Barry M Pink Silver Glitter for the base on all my nails. This polish is new and it applies beautifully, However, as you can see on my ring finger, you can still see a little bit of nail line so three coats would be better than two. The pink used on Marie's bows is OPI Pink Friday and the other colours are acrylic paints.
I'm so pleased with how these turned out! They're super cute and girly and very me. Everyone commented on how well they suited me and my personality :P And everyone could tell they were based on a cat so that proves my drawing skills aren't that bad ;p

Who would you have chosen as your Disney Hero? Let me know in the comments :)

Summer Fun Challenge - Pool Party

Hello everyone :)
Today I have another post for the Summer Fun Challenge for you all. The theme for this post is Pool Party and I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I haven't done a water marble in a while, and I've never done a full water marble, only ever as an accent nail so I thought this was the perfect chance to do one. Here's what happened...
Oh my god! It turned out perfect!! This is exactly what I wanted when I thought about this theme, and it's the first time I've managed to do a full water marble without giving up :P
For this water marble, I used OPI Alpine Snow, China Glaze For Audrey and Zoya Charla. I've decided that Charla is the perfect colour if you need to do any kind of manicure to do with water or mermaids :P It's such a versatile colour and I've used it so much on my nails already :)
I took this photo outside just to give you a better idea of the true colours of the polishes. I used the colours above because they reminded me of the water and also tiles that line swimming pools, I think they all worked well together :)
Overall, this is the best I could have hoped for. These turned out awesome, in my opinion :P And I love how this picture shows the super sparkliness of Charla, it's such a gorgeous polish. If you don't own it, seriously you need it!! :P

Have you ever done a mani inspired by water? What colours did you use? Let me in the comments :)

Please bare with me if my posting is a bit strange this week as my son has caught chickenpox so I'm trying to get my posts up around him :)
Thanks for reading :)

Superhero Challenge - Disney Villain

Hello everyone :)
Today I have another post for the Superhero Challenge! This week it's Disney, which makes this post a Disney Villain! I knew exactly who I wanted to use for this post as she terrified me when I was little in my favorite film. I chose Ursula from The Little Mermaid!
Here's the picture I used of her for these nails...

Man, she is one scary lady! Her face used to scare the life out of me when I was little and watching this film.
Now onto the nails...
I tried to follow a design from Polish Art Addiction for these nails but mine didn't turn out as well :P
For these nails I used two coats of Color Club Puccilicious for the base on all nails. I then used Essence Twins Gabriella and Color Club Power Play for the background colour of the tentacles. All other colours are acrylic paints (which I've never used for nail art before!)
Overall, these turned out okay. They're not my best but oh well. For my first attempt at using acrylic paints for nail art I'm quite impressed as I thought it would turn out awful :P I'm particularly impressed with the tentacles, the face is another story entirely :P However, practice makes perfect and I will definitely by using paints again in my nail art.

Who is your worst/favorite Disney Villain? Let me know in the comments :)

Summer Fun Challenge - Summer Lovin'

Hello everyone :)
Today I have my second post for the Summer Fun Challenge! Today's post is based on the theme of Summer Lovin'. As soon as I saw this theme I knew exactly what I wanted to do but had no idea to do it, so I played around for a while and came up with something I loved! here's what I came up with...
I've wanted to try out some nail art using naked nail as well as polish, so I thought this was the perfect time to do it! I was originally going to use lighter colours but thought you wouldn't be able to see my naked nail pop as much as you would with a brighter colour. Plus hot pink just screams summer at me :P
For these nails I used two coats of OPI Pink Flamenco, although I could have gotten away with one. This is my favourite hot pink polish, it applies like butter and it looks gorgeous! I then used a nail art brush and pure acetone to remove some of the polish to create the naked hearts on my nails, surprisingly this took quite a bit of time. Probably because I'm a perfectionist and wanted my hearts to be perfect :P
I really love how this looks on my nails. It's quite a subtle effect but everyone who saw these kept asking me how I did it :P I think it'd be fun to use this method for other shapes or patterns and obviously in different colours. I can't wait to play around with this a bit more :)

Have you ever done nail art with sections of naked nails? Let me know in the comments :)

Lazy Days Of Summer - Beach Theme Nails

Hello everyone :)
I was meant to get this post up yesterday but I had so much to do so I left for today. Anyway, I've started another new challenge! This challenge follows on from the April Showers Bring May Flowers Challenge. Here's a picture of all the themes within this challenge:

The first post is Beach Themed! I knew what I wanted to do for this first post since we decided on the themes, so here's what I came up with...
The beach and palm trees! When I think of beaches this is what I see in my head :P So I thought I'd recreate it on my nails for this challenge post :)
For these nails I used two coats of Jesse's Girl Girls Night Out for the base. I then added two coats of China Glaze Happy Go Lucky with a brush to create the sand. The sea in the background is two coats of Zoya Charla, again using a nail art brush. Finally, I used two coats of China Glaze Mahogany Magic and OPI Who The Shrek Are You? to create the palm tree.
I'm so pleased with how these turned out! If I'd attempted this a few weeks ago it would have looked awful :P My nail art skills are definitely getting better. I can't wait to do more of these challenge posts, they're so fun! It also helps that summer is my favourite season and it's nearly my birthday :P

Have you ever tried doing beach nail art? let me know in the comments :)

Superhero Challenge - DC Hero

Hello everyone :)
Today I have another Superhero challenge post for you all! Today's post is based on a DC Comics Hero!! I got very excited about this post and have had it planned for a while! Keeping with the theme of less well known characters I chose this guy...

The color Kid! You can read more about him here  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_Kid
I chose the Color Kid as I really liked what he looks like he doesn't look like a conventional Hero and I love his costume!
So here's what I came up with...
I took my inspiration for my nails from Color Kids costume once again. I really loved the rainbow panel so decided to do a gradient to portray that. Then I wanted the gradient to stand out so used black on the other nails to frame it like his costume does.
I made the gradient over bare nails and I think it stands out nicely, although it may have been brighter with a white base, I just didn't want really thick nails after using all this polish :p I used the following polishes in order from the cuticle line to the tip; China Glaze Poinsettia, Color Club Wham! Pow!, Color Club Almost Famous, Color Club Twiggie and Jesses Girl Girls Night Out. I sponged two coats of each colour on to the nail and then sealed with topcoat. The black I used was Revlon Lunar.
I'm so pleased with how this turned out. I thought the gradient was going to be a disaster :P I had great fun looking through all the Hero's for this challenge, but Color Kid was so fun I knew I had to show him to you all, I hope you like him!

Have you ever done a rainbow gradient? What colours did you use? let me know in the comments :)

Summer Fun Challenge - Grill Master

Hello everyone :)
Today I have a post from another challenge I'm taking part in. This challenge is called The Summer Fun Challenge and was created by Lindsey at Neverland Nail Blog. Here's a list of the challenge posts:
I'll be posting twice a week for this challenge which will be on Wednesdays and Fridays so that I don't clash with the Superhero Challenge.

The first post for this challenge is grill master! I really struggled with what to do with this one, in the end I settled on cooked meat :P Here's what I did...
I wanted my nails to look like meat that had been cooked on a grill. I think if you imagine that these nails are just really zoomed in versions then they do kind of look like what I intended :P I used two coats of Sally Hansen Iced Coffee for the base on all my nails, then added the stripes with my Models Own Nail Art Pen in Black.
Overall, I'm pleased with how these turned out even though they just look like striped nails :P I;'ve never done plain stripes on my nails before and I really like them, so you'll probably see more of them soon :P I;'ve got something more creative lined up for the next post so keep an eye out for that :)
I'm also starting another new challenge tomorrow!! :)

Superhero Challenge - DC Villain

Hello everyone :)
Today I have the next post of the Superhero Challenge! For this post I had to pick a DC Villain, I've really been struggling with this one since last week. I'd pick someone then realize I couldn't come up with a good design for them so I'd change my mind several times :P Today I finally settled on a character...
This is White Rabbit. She's one of the new 52 DC Villains and you can read more about her here - http://www.ugo.com/the-goods/dc-new-52-villains
I chose her as I love her costume (pink! and a bunny!) And I knew I'd be able to do a design for her that would look good :) So here are my nails...
These nails are again inspired by White Rabbits costume.
Fore finger: Her ears and hair (the hair is awful! I apologize)
Middle finger: her mask
Ring finger: her corset
Little finger: her shorts and tail
For the base of my nails I used OPI Play The Peonies. A beautiful pale pink that I don't use often. However, when I do I always think why don't I use this..It's gorgeous! I used Jesses Girl Cupcake Frosting as the base on my little finger, this pink is also gorgeous and it's the first time I've used it. I then used OPI Alpine Snow for all the white and my Models Own Nail Art Pen in Black for the lines.
Overall, I'm pleased with how these came out but if I'd found a character sooner I would have planned better, therefore they would have turned out better :P But I like them anyway :P While I was waiting for them to dry a girl knocked on the front door and she asked me what they were so I spent a while explaining them to her, she really liked them :) That made my day a little bit, I love talking about nails to people :P

Have you ever heard of the White Rabbit? Who's your favourite DC Villain? Let me know in the comments :)
Keep an eye out for a new challenge I'm starting tomorrow too!

Birthday Nails!

Hello everyone :)
Today I have some birthday nails to show you! It was my boyfriends 20th birthday on Friday so I thought I'd do some themed nails for the occasion :P I've done cupcakes before so I wanted to do something a bit different so here's what happened...
I made my nails with icing drips! :P How cute are these?
I used two coats of Rimmel Peppermint for the base of all of my nails. I then added the "icing" drips using a polish I frankened myself :) It's a white jelly with multi coloured glitter. I then topped the icing with OPI Don;t Touch My Tutu, to give it more depth. For the accent nail I applied Technic Carnival, a dupe for OPI Rainbow Connection, over my base colour and then applied once coat of OPI Don't Touch My Tutu.
My boyfriend loved these :) I think he was quite surprised I based my nails around his birthday to be honest :P My son also enjoyed them and told me straight away that they were cakes :P These are super cute and perfect for a less subtle birthday mani :P I will definitely be playing with this idea again before my own birthday :P

What birthday inspired nails are your favourite? Let me know in the comments :)
Keep an eye out for my 350 follower giveaway being posted later too!

Superhero Challenge - Marvel Hero!

Hello everyone :)
Today I have my next Superhero Challenge post! This time I'm showing you some nail art inspired by a Marvel Comics Hero! Again, like the last post, I didn't want to do a common hero so I went and looked at some less well known heroes that Marvel have created and came across this guy...

Captain Britain! I thought he was very fitting for this challenge seeing as we're all British ladies taking part in this challenge....
So I decided that for this challenge I wanted to have my nails all the same so I took my inspiration from Captain Britain's outfit.
For these nails I used Color Club Cold Metal for the base, OPI Alpine Snow for the base of the cross and then China Glaze Poinsettia over the top of the white. I've never used Cold Metal before and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the application was, if I was careful I could have gotten away with one coat! I used two coats of each polish in this nail art.
I'm really pleased with how these turned out. I know my lines aren't perfectly straight but they're better than they would have been a few weeks ago :P Unfortunately nobody knew they were based on a superhero until I told them :P Although people enjoyed learning all about Captain Britain :P (He was intended to be the British version of Captain America!)

Wednesday Wants

Hello everyone :)
Here's my second post of Wednesday Wants! Lots of polish in this weeks list ;)

1. China Glaze On Safari Collection. There are only a few colours that i actually want from this collection (I'm Not Lion, I Herd That, Desert Sun and Exotic Encounters) but I love the whole theme and idea of this collection. It makes me think of wild animals, including leopards which are my favourite! Definitely going to pick some of these up soon :)

Photo link: http://www.fashionpolish.com/2012/06/opi-black-spotted-swatches-review.html
2. OPI Black Spotted: I caved in and bought this last night :P I needed it in my life. I don;t use crackle/shatter polish much anymore but I love the effect that this gives and it sucks that it's only available in France. However, Sephora in France  ship to the UK so I ordered it last night :P

flash Orly Presents...Flash Glam FX & Magnetic FX Collections

3. Orly Flash Glam FX. I need all of these in my life! Unfortunately Orly polishes are really hard to get hold of in the UK and also very expensive when you can get hold of them :( These polishes are beautiful and it makes me sad to think that I might not be able to get my hands on them :(

That's all for this weeks wants :P
Keep an eye out tomorrow for my next Superhero Challenge post, it's going to be awesome!
Also, keep an eye out tomorrow or Friday for my 350 Follower Giveaway!
